2016 - A drive to SHEQ recognition

January 2016 saw Paul Whittingham join P J Edwards & Co (UK) Ltd as SHEQ Manager for the UK operations. He brings with him 30 years’ experience in safety, training, construction and civil engineering. One of Paul’s primary tasks is to assist the management team driving forward with ISO 9001:2015 and other accreditations to reflect the excellent safety, quality and environmental performance demonstrated by the organisation during the past four years.

Since 2012 the UK business has been supported by our parent company in Ireland. However, due to the business growth in the UK the requirement for a dedicated SHEQ department was recognised.

During the months since January 2016 P J Edwards UK have gained a number of significant achievements including becoming members of ROSPA and successfully completing the challenging Achilles Building Confidence two day audit to enable entry on to the construction industry established Achilles supply chain database.

The next milestone for the UK business is accreditation to ISO 9001:2015 for which a stage 1 audit has already been achieved. Full accreditation has been targeted for the end of 2016.

Recognition of the organisation's Quality Management System is the start of a longer term strategy to gain further recognition for the business Safety and Environmental management systems. The drive for recognition also provides the framework to train and develop people at all levels and provides a driver for business improvement and ultimately a stronger position in the geotechnical and piling market place.
